Sometimes I wish I could just let things go, let someone else obey God concerning uncomfortable subjects. I made a promise to God that I would speak truth at the cost of appearing like a fool if he would once and for all take all anxiety away concerning the spiritual and overall well being of my children. I wanted it settled. I wanted peace.
It is normal to have concerns and pray, but I was having over the top anxiety. My promise was I would speak what he laid upon my heart even if I am despised. His promises in his Word come with a price and that price is obedience.
What I am about to say is heavy upon my heart. The Bible tells us that the older women are to teach the younger. My grandmother was at times like a Puritan and sometimes I would be embarrassed by her reactions and corrections. She could make me really feel shameful, but let me say that I always knew she loved me. I today am so grateful for her corrections. This woman that reared me was born in 1905. This can explain her ways as well as her teachings, but also she was a godly woman.
There is a behavior that is unsuitable for women who call themselves "Christian". I am not here to say I have it all together by any means. What I can say is what my grandmother taught me about this matter.
We are not to Wallow. Wallow physically or emotionally. She corrected me on wallowing physically . How can I say this without appearing totally from another world. Today it is accepted to behave in a wallowing manner. It is also seen as a seductive manner. Have you watched a cat wallow? Stretching finding pure pleasure in it's self and appearing to draw attention to itself to be petted.
Animals are to wallow. Elephants, pigs and rhinos are to wallow but not people and surely not for all to see. It is unbecoming for women to behave in this matter. I am not talking about what happens between a husband and wife, that is personal and godly. Let's look at this from a worldly standpoint, if you feel a Christian standpoint is too preachy.
Could you see Jackie Kennedy wearing her pearls and stylishly dressed slithering all over the sofa, behaving seductively in a public photograph of herself ? No, she knew how to behave like a lady. I am not calling her a worldly woman, Catholic or Christian, but she was a modest behaving lady. A modest lady is how Christian women should behave. To the world it is called refined. Being a lady or refined is seldom heard anymore or taught.
When you saw Jackie you knew she was "different" that difference is taught. We are to behave as Christian women, which is as a Lady. A lady is modest, polite, and she does not have a dirty or loud mouth. She is not offensive in her dress or behavior towards others.
We were corrected from wallowing on the couch as children. I taught my girls as well. Parents are to teach their children how to behave. Some girls are allowed to shake their bottoms not only at home, but in public and they are encouraged to behave this way. I understand some people will not get what I am saying, thinking this is cute and innocent. This is not Christ like behavior. It is seductive.
To make you all understand that I am not trying to sound like I know all, I will explain myself better. At sixteen I was in front of the mirror acting seductive and realizing I was changing into a woman. I had no idea my grandmother saw me behaving in this manner ( by the way kids today do more in public than what I did in privacy in front of that mirror.) Anyway, my grandmother scolded me like I had done the worse sin possible.
Yes, I felt she over reacted, yet I do know where she was coming from. She was scolding me for acting in a seductive nature and behavior before it took hold. Not only did she teach me to behave as a Christian but also wanted me to be a lady. We are called to be different. 2 Corinthians 6:17. Come out from among them and be separate.
Sexy is the new goal for women and their children! Where are we heading with this? I am talking about Christians. Taking pictures of our self or our teens in seductive suggestions is so wrong. I do realize some may not even realize what I am talking about, because you have never been told any different and you only are practicing what everyone else is practicing.
Pictures of our youth in lying positions, hair like they just got out of bed and faces in pure pleasure is really a seductive pose, only thing lacking is the purring. Pictures of ones self in bed with cleavage showing and a sultry stare is just plain unacceptable for Christian women. I am talking about exposing and exploiting yourself for all to see on facebook or other public media.
Today Churches have their youth perform dances that you can see in the local bar. Shaking and twisting their bottoms and shoulders in worse ways than Elvis in his day. I am talking about children and teenagers. They are being taught how to behave. Who is teaching our children? I can feel the Holy Spirit being slapped in the face with this behavior! I thought it was me personally being offended when I first saw this in a church and felt the shock, but this grieves the Holy Spirit.
