There are those who have been taught properly. They have been taught manners, how to treat others respectably. Some families have quoted Words from the Bible in order to teach their children kindness and respect towards others.
After reading in Luke Chapter 6: 41-47, it leads me to question whether it would be better to allow one to grow up a heathen, only if you do not teach salvation. The reason is, I would think being raised to be kind and correct in ones actions and behavior without the teachings of Jesus Christ and his coming to save the sinner, which we are all born, would just cause one to be self righteous.
Jesus is explaining to his disciples why the woman, a sinner should not be scolded for wasting the perfume on his feet. It reads:
There was a certain creditor which had two debtors, the one owed five hundred pence and the other fifty. And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me there, which of them will love him the most?
Simon answered and said, I suppose that he to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged.
And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thy house, thou gavest me no water for my feet, but she hath washed my feet with tears and wiped them with the hairs of her head.
Thou gavest me no kiss, but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet.
My head with oil thou didst not anoint but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment.
Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins , which are many are forgiven, for she loved much. but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.
How profound this is. Those who have much sin to be forgiven, loveth more the Forgiver. This causes me to think, what if one only teaches good acts to their children? Could in time their children begin to see they are much better behaved and kind than most. Then thinking they are righteous? No real understanding of their need to repent of their sins, not realizing all are born sinners.
We all are born sinners, no matter how good we are, or think we are. Jesus says we must repent of our sins. Yes, we are all born sinners. There is no other way to eternal life in heaven without recognizing this and humbling our self and asking Jesus to forgive us of our sins and him coming into our heart to change us. He then will make us righteous enough for God and eternity in Heaven.
Yes, you are different than those who are behaving like heathens in this world, but maybe only because you were taught to behave with kindness and manners. Without true repentance and salvation you are no different. Hell is real, and all who are not saved by grace will enter there. You only have to truly ask for forgiveness of your sins and ask Jesus to save you. You will be born again. You will be new again. You will be clean and free.
